Labour Minister Carlos Tomada hailed wage deals reached with some unions and questioned the strike called for June 9 by sectors that “have not started (salary) negotiations.”
“It is a strange thing that of preventive strikes, I did not have it in my check list. It calls the attention that they launch a walkout when negotiations did not start,” the minister told the FM Nacional Rock radio station today.
“It is a strike to be held by some sectors, strongly backed by transport unions, expressing their opposition stance, criticizing progress in some situations. Till now, none of the sectors calling for the strike has started collective bargaining talks so they don’t have problems,” Tomada insisted defending the possibility of holding salary negotiations.
