The Workers' Trade Union (USO, for its acronym in Spanish), main oil workers union of Colombia, approved starting an indefinite strike in reaction to massive layoffs made in the context of the fall in international oil prices.
The decision was taken in a meeting in Barrancabermeja, place of Colombia's main refinery.
"Let an indefinite strike in the petroleum sector, workers and communities," said Edwin Brown, president of the USO to Reuters news agency.
