The President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Production (Fedecámaras), Jorge Roig, reasserted on Wednesday the invitation the federation made last week to President Nicolás Maduro to attend a convention on July 16 in Barquisimeto, Lara state.
In that meeting, Fedecámaras will bring forward a parliament agenda "for development and progress (...) so Venezuela can move forward as a country at the vanguard, where investments can be promoted and obstacles to producers are overcome," he stated.
Roig added that Fedecámaras sought to hold talks and reach agreements with the Venezuelan government, and added that the invitations to dialogue the government has made have been focused on giving directions. "They have a strange concept of dialogue," he commented.
He argued that the reason of shortages was that the government does not foster local production, and added it has been very "clumsy" in the management of imports.
