Chelsea sacked manager Jose Mourinho Thursday after an appalling run of results that has left the London club just one point above the relegation places.

Just seven months ago, Mourinho led the Blues to their fourth Premier League title, which they won at a canter, and in February 2015 Chelsea won the league cup after victory against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite keeping the nucleus of their title winning squad, the West London-based outfit have underperformed and Monday’s 2-1 defeat to Premier League leaders proved to be the last straw for the Chelsea board.
