The Colombian labor minister, Luis Eduardo Garzón, would meet with businessmen and oil workers to continue seeking solutions to the crisis caused by falling oil prices. One goal is to reiterate that the new National Development Plan does not contemplate Ecopetrol privatization.

Garzon said that protest is not stigmatizing, but a strike like the one just be called by the Unión Sindical Obrera (USO, for its acronym in Spanish) is not going to do well at employment development in the country.

He also warned that lower the production of 1 million 200 thousand barrels will not only generate more employment problems, but also affect social programs of the national government because they no longer receive revenue in the budget.
