The Labour Ministry has ruled the mandatory conciliation in the LAN salary dispute that led to cancelations and delays in the company’s flights departing from the Buenos Aires City Jorge Newbery Airport.

Pilots of the company  launched a strike in demand for a salary hike of 35 percent.

The protest action was mainly affecting domestic flights although some international destinations suffered alterations as well. Flights heading to Mendoza, Córdoba, Neuquén, Tucumán, Salta, Iguazú, Bariloche and Santiago de Chile have already been canceled. The company and workers met for the last time on Tuesday but talks ended with no progress as LAN offers a salary increase of 27.5 percent something the sector’s union considers insufficient.
