Mi Bus workers held a general assembly today to discuss the impending takeover of the Metro Bus system by the government.
The workers are on alert due to concerns they have about compensation they will receive as part of the transition.
"We will not be provoked," said Antenor Guadamuz, general secretary of the union representing the drivers. "We are going to fight within the framework of the law."
Drivers have no desire to strike, he said. he insisted, at the time said that they have not planned to call a strike.
The union is demanding compensation above $12.6 million. Labor Minister Luis Ernesto Carle has said the government will follow the law. Two weeks ago, he delivered the proposed compensation package to the union.
The Presidential Transport Committee will meet with the union tomorrow to address their concerns.
