The Ministry of Labor has seized the assets of Franquicias Premium Corp., which operates six Quiznos restaurants in Panama City.
The ministry took action may 6. Since then, all six restaurants have closed.
The order covers bank accounts and all property. It was done to safeguard workers, who are owed back payments by the company.
Luis Herrera, who represents the 40 employees, said they have not been paid since April, and have not received other required benefits.
He said the workers expect the sale of the company's equipment will be used for their compensation. If it is not enough, they will take the company to court.
The company was registered on Jan. 18, 2013.
