The Spanish trade union Workers Commissions called for strikes in the railway sector next September, to face proposals that surely deteriorate public companies for the benefit of the private sector and threaten stability in employment.
A statement noted that last August 4th National Network of Spanish Railways (Renfe) broke off negotiations with unions who considered unacceptable the proposals of the company in front of a serious problem for the lack of human resources.
CCOO pointed out that it demanded the hiring of 1,125 000 people to face the serious situation of lack of maintenance of trains and inefficient service of the public company, but its leadership offered conditions that foster indignity and working poverty.
According to the unions, hiring is required to stop the deterioration of the public company, which already has plans to sell 49 percent of the company's goods and to privatize the maintenance of trains, threatening nearly 5,000 employees.
The Renfe and ADIF unions are studying the actions to be taken, will confirm the dates for the strikes later, according to a note of the Workers Commissions.
